The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:00AM, 21, August. Coffee and muffins will be available beginning at 8:30. Since this meeting is a sister meeting of the ACTI meeting on the previous day, 8/20/98, I assume that most people attending the meeting is already in the city. So we start the meeting a little earlier than the ACTI meeting.
The meeting will be held in Room D250 of the Earth Science Building on Campus. Driving instructions to Santa Cruz and to the Earth Sciences building are given below the agenda.
Lunch will be served during the meeting in the meeting room. Lunch includes sandwich and beverage. If you have some special needs for the lunch, please let us know.
There will be coffee breaks at 10:15AM and 3:15PM. Coffee, tea and snacks will be available during the breaks.

----------- Driving directions for the meeting:
Getting to the campus from the inner peninsula:
------------------------------------
Take Route 17 over the hill (South) from San Jose. Take the Route 1
exit off Route 17 that heads north towards Half Moon Bay. Go straight
across the river and then go straight through the intersection with
Route 9. The road winds to the left slightly. At the next light, bear
right onto Route 1 business - also called Mission Street. Stay in the
right lane and take the first right onto Highland. Go about two blocks
until you reach a T, then turn left onto High Street for a while as you
climb the hill towards the campus. After about 1.5 miles and a couple
of stop signs, you will reach the main entrance to UCSC, Bay Street.
Turn right onto the campus.
Getting to the Earth Science Building from the main entrance:
----------------------------------------------
Proceed up the hill on the main road, Coolidge Drive. Stay on
Coolidge as you wind past the great meadow and enter the redwood grove
containing the central campus. You will pass through several stop
signs, and the road eventually is renamed Mclaughlin Drive. You will
pass the Cowell Health Center on the left, then cross a bridge. Your
next left is the entrance to the parking lot by the Science Library.(
You may park your car here.) Pass by the parking lot and the library,
and at the end of the road is the Earth Science Building.
Somebody will be there to help you park your car and give you a parking permit.
The meeting will be held in Room D250.
