AlaskaZoom

Zoom of Alaska terrane map. Significant counterclockwise rotation
of interior Western Alaska since Late Cretaceous-Early Tertiary
is suggested by the paleomagnetic results from volcanic rocks:
1 (Talkeetna volcanics), 5 (Yukon River tuffs), 6 (Bristol
Bay lavas) and 7 (Lake Clark lavas). Note that the seemingly
inconsistent results 2 and 3 are not statistically significant
(too few lava flows), result 8 is from lavas erupted much
later, and results 9, 10 and 19 are from later-accreted terranes.
